GUILLERMO HERNÁNDEZ BARROCAL obtained the Professional Studies diploma at the age of just 13. He has studied with Galina Eguiazarova and Martín García García, and is currently studying with Jerome Rose at the Mannes School of Music in New York.
He won First Prize and the Audience Award at the 5th Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition (Tokyo, 2025); First Prize, among others, at the Jeune Chopin Competition (Lugano, Switzerland), Estepona (Spain), Santa Cecilia (Segovia, Spain), and Pernik (Bulgaria), and has also been a semifinalist at the Nutcracker Competition (Moscow) and the Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young Artists (USA).
He has already made his debut at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, both with orchestra (2023) and in solo recital (2024). He has performed in nine countries and, among others, with the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra (OSCYL). In 2023, he was invited by the Chopin Institute to give a recital at the composer’s birthplace museum in Poland; he also took part alongside Martha Argerich in a festival in Lausanne (Switzerland) and was a finalist for the Princess of Girona Arts Awards (2025), awarded by the Spanish Crown. He released his first recording in 2021, dedicated to works by Schumann, Liszt, and Chopin.
