HIROKI NAKAYAMA is a Japanese pianist recognized for his expressive musicianship, technical command, and refined sense of musical structure. He began studying the piano at an early age and has continued to develop his artistry through training and regular performance.
His repertoire ranges from the Classical period to major Romantic and twentieth-century works. Recent programs include Liszt’s Transcendental Études, Hungarian Rhapsodies, Schumann’s Allegro in B Minor, Op. 8, Chopin’s Grande polonaise brillante, and Rachmaninoff’s Études-Tableaux. Through these works, Hiroki seeks to combine virtuosity with imagination while maintaining clarity of musical architecture.
Hiroki has appeared in solo concerts throughout Japan. In 2025, he performed in Osaka and Shiga, and later presented a recital at the Shimamura Music Grand Front Osaka Piano Showroom, performing works by Rachmaninoff, Chopin, and Schumann. These experiences strengthened his concentration, projection, and interpretive depth.
He has received numerous prizes in major competitions in Japan. His awards include First Prize at the Chopin International Piano Competition in ASIA (Asia Final, Elementary Division), First Prize at the Hyogo Student Piano Competition, and Best Prize at the PTNA Piano Competition National Finals (D, E, and Junior-G categories). He also won First Prize at the JPTA Piano Audition, First Prize and the Kobe Mayor’s Award at the Japan Performers Competition, performing with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, Hiroki won First Prize at the All Japan Student Music Competition (Osaka and National Finals), receiving the Yokohama Citizens’ Award, Nomura Prize, Iguchi Aiko Prize, Fukuda Yasuko Prize, and Music Encouragement Award. Further honors include the Kobe Youth Award (Cultural Division), Second Prize (highest award) at the Japan Classical Music Competition, and First Prize at the Beten Music Competition.
He also participated in the preliminary round of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. Hiroki is currently preparing for major international auditions, aiming to communicate sincerely with audiences and continue growing as an artist.
