About Piano Cleveland

Yanjun Chen

At age 21, pianist Yanjun Chen was awarded First Prize at the International Santa Cecilia Piano Competition (2022). From an early age, she has consistently demonstrated remarkable achievements on the international stage. She has taken part in many international piano competitions and won several prizes, including the Yamaha Asia Conservatory Scholarship Competition, Third Prize at Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians (2017), and First American Classical Music Competition to name a few. She also participated in the Rubinstein Piano Competition for young musicians and many more.

Yanjun has recently appeared with orchestras including the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, and Orchestra Sinfónica Portuguesa under the batons of Maestro Lavard Skou Larsen, Osvaldo Ferreira, and Kjell Seim. She has performed in many venues, including her most recent concerts at the Casa Da Musica concert hall and Aula Magna, Teatro Municipal da Guarda in Portugal.

Yanjun actively participates in many prestigious international events and music festivals, including the Morningside Music Bridge in Boston (2018) and Warsaw (2019) where she received full scholarships, Wasserburg Summer Academy in Germany, International Summer Academy in Mozarteum, Austria, and as well in many chamber music festivals such as Chamber Lab in Montacastelli, Italy, and International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove in the UK.

She is currently studying with Professor Arie Vardi at the University of Music, Media and Theater in Hannover, Germany.
