Winner of the 2017 Sarasota Artist Series Piano Competition, pianist Ying Li comes from Beijing, China. She has received top awards in numerous national and international competitions, including First Prize at Brevard Music Center solo and concerto competitions, First Prize at International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists, and Third Prize at the Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra Young Artist Competition. She has performed with many orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Bacau “Mihail Jora” Philharmonic Orchestra, and Longwood Symphony Orchestra. As an avid chamber musician, Ying has performed at festivals including Ravinia’s Steans Institute in Chicago, La Jolla Music Society in San Diego, Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival in Detroit, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival in Connecticut, and Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland. Ying has also performed in many venues, including her most recent debut at the Verizon Hall of Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center in New York, Harris Concert Hall of University of Memphis, New World Center in Miami, Chicago Cultural Center, Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in San Diego, Sala Verdi in Italy, and ACT Concert Hall in Japan. After starting piano lessons at age five in China, Ying moved to Philadelphia at age fourteen to study at the Curtis Institute of Music with Jonathan Biss and Seymour Lipkin. After receiving her Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute in 2019, she is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School in New York with Robert McDonald.
